PKRU signs MOU to establish Agritech and Innovation Center: AIC

(5th March 2020) At the Prince Palace Hotel in Bangkok, Mr. Suthep Moongkhun, the Dean of Faculty of Agricultural Technology at Phuket Rajabhat University, signed a MOU with the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives for cooperation to establish the Agritech and Innovation Center: AIC.
Mr. Chalermchai Srion, the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives; Mr. Alongkorn Pollabutr, the Advisor to the Minister, and representatives from more than 70 universities throughout the country attended the event.





According to the MOU, the AIC will be established in the universities participating in the project. The center will be run by the center’s administrative committee led by the President of each university or authorized person. The committee members include provincial representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture Technology, the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Commerce, private sector, academic sector, and agricultural sector. The director of the center shall be responsible for work in the missions including the development of agricultural creative thinking, compilation of technology and body of knowledge, exploration and development of agricultural innovations and technologies, farmer training, supporting new generation of farmers (Young Smart Farmers), preparing learning venues, promoting the use of agricultural innovations and technologies and initiate the participation with both government and private sectors.
The missions of AIC is compatible with the mission of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, to be the center of food and agricultural academic services in the Andaman region, that mainly provide academic support, knowledge management, producing agricultural graduates, conducting research, and conveying appropriate agricultural technologies and innovations to the farmers in the service area of the university.
