PKRU hosts Thai Manners Competition to build cultural conservation student networks

PRPKRU (March 3rd 2021) The Arts and Culture Center, Phuket Rajabhat University, hosted the 6th Thai Manners Training, a part of a Thai – local wisdom, arts, and culture conservation project, at Khunying Kanchana Na Ranong Conference Room in Andaman Pannarai Conference Center.
The objective of the event was to add value to local arts, as well as to support the locals in their local community development. The opening of the event was presided over by Asst. Prof. Dr. Hiran Prasarnkarn, the Present of PKRU; together with Asst. Prof. Dr. Khan Phayoongpan, the Director of the Arts and Culture Center; and teachers and students from schools in Phuket attending the training. The training focused on the workshop in Thai manners and behaviour guideline in Thai society, presented by instructors from the center. Besides that, there was a Thai manners competition for students in secondary and high school levels judged by those instructors and local experts.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Hiran Prasarnkarn, the President of the university said that “Thai manners signify Thainess, ceremonies/customs and valuable culture of the country. At present, Thai teenagers are influenced by diverse foreign cultures of dressing/fashion and social expression; they sometimes behave inappropriately, for example being aggressive and inpolite to elders or neglecting the valuable Thai culture; this is the reason why the university and the Arts and Culture Center hosted this event with the intention to not only conserve Thai ways and manners, but we also hope to encourage students and school networks who are going to work on Thai art and culture conservation.”
