‘Innovation from Phuket Pineapples’ by PKRU

PRPKRU (March 6th 2021) The Research and Development Institute, Phuket Rajabhat University hosted an event called ‘Innovations from Phuket Pineapples’. The event was presided over by Mr. Pichet Panapong, the Deputy Governor of Phuket; together with Mr. Suthep Mungkhun, the Vice President in Special Affairs at Phuket Rajabhat University. There were honorable guests attending the event, including executives of the university: Asst. Prof. Dr Duangrat Koikitcharoen, the Vice President in Research and Planning; Dr. Piangchit Tanticharaswarodom, the Vice President in Administration; Asst. Prof. Dr. Athipan Siammai, the Director of Research and Development Institute; representatives from government and private organizations, and media. The event was held at Rai Wanich in Rassada Sub-district, Muang District, Phuket. 

Asst. Prof. Duangrat Koikitcharoen, the Vice President of the university said that “The university has been working through its local development strategies by supporting a body of knowledge and working with organizations and alliance networks; at the same time integrating the instruction, academic services, research, and arts and culture conservation in educating local residents and communities in Phuket, Phang Nga and Krabi. 

 
 
 
With the intention to use education to develop and solve problems in education, society, economy and environment in its service areas, the university hosted this event as a part of its local community development project. The event featured the transformation of Phuket pineapples following the body of knowledge and participation of Office of Community Development Phuket and Pracharat Rak Samakkee Phuket Company Limited (Enterprise for Social Benefits). 

The pineapple products in this projects included pineapple jelly, pasteurized pineapple juice, acne preparation from pineapple extract, and facial cream from pineapple extract. Moreover, there are 2 products under the experimental process: pineapple meat marinating powder and skincare from pineapple, which are expected to be finished by the middle of this year.
