PRPKRU (March 18th 2021)  Chulalongkorn University Halal Science Center and Andaman Halal Science Center hosted training of ‘Entrepreneurs Development in E–Commerce for Entrepreneur Network in International Halal Markets’ at the Faculty of Agricultural Science in Phuket Rajabhat University. The opening of the training was presided over by Dr. Manop Chachiyo, the Vice President in Student Affairs, Phuket Rajabhat University; together with Asst. Prof. Dr. Atipan Siammai, the Director of Research and Development Institute; Mr. Prasert Jariyalerpong, a lecturer from Faculty of Agricultural Science; staff of the two Halal science centers, local entrepreneurs and residents.

Dr. Manop stated that there were 2.14 billion Muslims all over the world and the number is expected to reach 2.2 billion in 2030. Besides, Halal food has a good reputation in cleanliness and hygiene, so it is popular not only in the group of Muslims, but also in people of other religious beliefs; and contributes to the growing need for Halal food in the market. In Thailand, the Thai Halal food export was valued at 5,824 million U.S. dollars in 2017. This is a large market with major consumers in ASEAN countries and the Middle East. Moreover, the outbreak of COVID 19 has increased trading via E–Commerce systems; this is the main reason for the university to host this training, to enhance the local entrepreneurs’ social commerce skills in trading & purchasing goods and services from platforms in social media, that would contribute to the development of Halal business.
