Phuket Rajabhat University hosted a Buddhist praying ceremony to celebrate its 50th year anniversary
(June 14th 2021) The President’s Office at Phuket Rajabhat University hosted the Buddhist praying ceremony to celebrate the 50th year since establishment of Phuket Teacher College at the activity space, 1st floor of the Student Affairs building.
The praying ceremony was presided over by Dr.Manop Chachiyo, the Vice President in Student Affairs; monks from Wichit Sangkaram Temple were invited to conduct the praying ceremony. There were university executives, staff and students attending the ceremony.
Phuket Teacher College was founded on June 14th 1971, in the year of Silver Jubilee (25th year since accessing to the throne) celebrations of the H.M. the late King Bhumibhol. Phuket Teacher College was the first higher education institute in the Andaman region. Its mission was to resolve teacher shortages in the area and to provide educational opportunities for people in rural areas according to the rural area sustainable development scheme at that time. The college had been serving the community until renamed by the King as Rajabhat (the King’s scholar) Institute in 1992 as well as other teacher colleges throughout the country. The institute was again renamed to be Phuket Rajabhat University in 2004 and has been working as the education institute for local community development until now.
