PKRU Fabric Pattern “Jampoon Phu Nga” wins the Fabric Pattern Design Competition

PRPKRU (June 23rd 2022) Phuket Rajabhat University congratulated Asst. Prof. Dr. Panuwat Sangiam, the lecturer in Art and Design Program, Faculty of Humanity and Social Science, for creating the award-winning fabric pattern named “Jampoon Phu Nga” from the Phang Nga Fabric Pattern Design Competition 2022. The competition is held to explore and develop the fabric pattern which represents the identity of Phang Nga in contemporary way and to create Phang Nga local fabric products in the future. The award giving ceremony was held at Jampoon Conference Room in Phang Nga Government Complex where the winner of the competition received the prize and certificate from Mr. Jamroen Thippayapongthada, the Governor of Phang Nga.


Asst. Prof. Dr. Panuwat told us about the inspiration for creating this fabric pattern that “the designing concept of this fabric pattern was inspired by unique identity of Phang Nga, the symbolic flower of Phang Nga called Jampoon, James Bond Island, the world-renowned landmark of the province, elephant mountain, and the wavy lines of the sea. The fabric pattern “Jampoon Phu Nga” will be produced and exhibited in Thai Identity - Local Identity to Province Symbolic Fabric Pattern called “From Local to International Art of Fabric” to promote the identity of Phang Nga to the international audiences”.
