PKRU launches batik product branded ‘Rak Choo’
PRPKRU (July 19th, 2023) Phuket Rajabhat University or PKRU hosted PKRU ART POWER event showing the Andaman local fabric and batik fashion and launched the brand-new batik products, Rak Choo, at Khunying Kanchana Na Ranong Art Exhibition Center. There opening of the event was presided over by Dr. Boonsuppha Tanthai, PKRU Vice President in Administration and Engagement, with Asst. Prof. Dr. Khan Payoongphan, the Director of PKRU Office of Arts and Culture, Dr. Wipawan Kusuwan, the President of University Affair Promoting Committee, Mr. Sirichai Chansongsaeng, the owner of Chai Batik shop, the university executives, staff, locals and students attending the event.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Khan Payoongphan told us about the brand 'Rak Choo,' which was created through a collaboration between PKRU and Chai Batik to create new products from local wisdom, with the concept inspired by Ajarn Chuchart Rawichan's study of the Andaman Sea. This project is part of the Batik subject and an academic service provided by the PKRU Arts and Culture Center, as well as a tribute to Andaman scholar Ajarn Chuchart Rawichan.
