PKRU Re-Inventing Hosts a Batik Workshop at the Chalong Community!

On October 26th and 27th, 2024, workshop on "Conveying knowledge of Rak Chu Batik to identical batik products in Chalong community" was held at Ban Chalong School's multipurpose hall by the Office of Arts and Culture at Phuket Rajabhat University, with Ajarn Decha Siduka as the workshop's leader and with the help of students and faculty. Participation in the workshop was one way that the PKRU Re-inventing 2024 initiative helped to boost creative and economic tourism in southern Thailand.

Khun Pisit Thepthong and Khun Sittipong Sittitoon, two leading Batik experts, taught the trainees how to replicate unique designs and patterns on their own Batik goods. Participants learned not only how to design and trademark products, but also the Batik printing technique developed by Phuket Rajabhat University. This method, which uses foam etched with different patterns, helps to cut manufacturing costs and streamlines the process.
