PKRU Cultivates Entrepreneurial Spirit and Showcases Culinary Soft Power through the Master Thai Chef Program

(July 29, 2025) – Phuket Rajabhat University (PKRU), through the University Business Incubator (UBI) and in collaboration with key partners, has launched two integrated initiatives: the Entrepreneurial Skill Development Program for Students and the Culinary Soft Power Promotion Project – Master Thai Chef Program.

The event was officially inaugurated by Mr. Suwit Phansengiam, Deputy Governor of Phuket Province, and attended by notable figures including Asst. Prof. Dr. Hiran Prasarnkarn, President of PKRU; Dr. Manop Chachiyo, Vice President for Student Affairs; Dr. Sunanta Kanthanon, Manager of the University Business Incubator (UBI); the Director of Phuket Vocational College; and the Director of Phuket Polytechnic College. Activities were held at the Khun Lertphokkarak Auditorium, located within the Andaman Phannarai Convention Center at PKRU.

The initiative aims to cultivate entrepreneurial mindsets among students while enhancing Phuket’s global standing as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy by promoting local culinary arts as a form of soft power.

Dr. Sunanta Kanthanon explained the objectives of the program:

“This event was designed to inspire and empower students with entrepreneurial ambition while encouraging collaboration with external organizations. By merging the Entrepreneurial Skill Development Program with the Master Thai Chef Program, we aim to provide students with valuable business insights and hands-on learning experiences from real industry leaders.”

The event featured prominent guest speakers and successful entrepreneurs, including:

Ms. Praewphayom Aikwanich, Phuket’s first food blogger

Mr. Kittipop Eangchoun, owner of Asterisk Espresso and national barista champion

Mr. Thanaphat Nuansakul, executive of the renowned Phuket restaurant Tukabkhao and Producer-Director of Miss Grand Phuket

Mr. Peerawat Plangsiri, owner of Sino Roti Phuket, Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef, and gold medalist in European desserts at Thailand’s International Culinary Cup

These experts shared their journeys, insights, and success stories—offering students not only knowledge and inspiration, but also a clearer vision of how to transform passion into purpose.
