Asst. Prof. Dr. Pita Jarupunphol’ the Planner of Digital Courses for New Normal Education in PKRU

Information and Communication Technology for Education or digital solution is the key moving Phuket Rajabhat University towards Thailand 4.0 policy and education service in the 'New Normal Age'.
We can say that the outbreak of COVID 19 is the catalyst of digital education in our university. The city lockdown urged Office of Academic Resources and Information Technology or ARIT PKRU, led by its director, Asst. Prof. Dr. Pita Jarupunphol and the staff to hasten in providing the system supporting online platforms used for orientations, meetings, instruction and training.
Even though the situation is getting better, the university remains commited to using ICT in many sections. At the same time, ARIT PKRU is working to re–design the education services to be more compatible with the missions of the university.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Pita Jarupunphol, the Director of ARIT, welcomed us to ARIT Studio, where we discussed about his work in front of the lighting system, green screen, cables, cameras, and computers controlling sound and pictures, for several months so far.
The big question we would like to ask the Director is what is the role of ARIT PKRU in supporting online classrooms when social distancing is needed?

“Instruction in the classroom is the best way of leaning for students; but our duty is to support instruction and learning by providing recorded and filed academic information or digital courses that the allow the learners to search and access from their handy devices. We also work together with programs and faculties in live streaming content, creating digital classrooms and innovations in several sciences accessed by our students and people beyond our service area.

In the past, the perception of people about IT office is having high speed internet for all areas and high technology devices; but now, those basic structures are not enough for the needs in the New Normal Age. We are talking about the battle of platforms, convenience in accessing large databases with simple and easy ways. We therefore have been working with our education partners including Google for Education, Microsoft Educator Center, Huawei ICT Academy, ICT expert universities to develop online learning channels and Cloud Computing System which is applied in organization administration and services provided for our staff and students, following the goal to be a Smart University.”

Besides, ARIT is also responsible for the E–Library, TOEIC, and Digital Literacy. Lots of workshops and training have been hosted to enhance the abilities of the students with the content recorded in the database as the knowledge store for New Normal learning; we will be providing the certificate and online standard academy for the trending short courses in the near future” said Asst. Prof. Dr. Pita.
The answer of Ajarn Pita has indicated that the university is working on ICT development by paying more attention to the platform and system rather than paying more budget as before. The next question pops up is that is this working? Being the TOP10 Popular IT 2020 of Rajabhat Universities ranked by https://www.thaitopu.com/content/103 would be a good answer and confirm that ARIT PKRU is walking on the right path to enhance education quality and administration in the organization towards digital technology.
